AARP

Founded in 1958, AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization that helps people 50 and older improve the quality of their lives as they age. AARP has more than 40 million members and has offices in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. As the nation’s largest membership organization for people 50 and over, AARP is dedicated to enhancing quality of life for all as we age. AARP leads positive social change and delivers value to members through information, advocacy, and service.

Achieving health security for all is a key objective for AARP. AARP believes that everyone should have guaranteed, affordable, high-quality healthcare, as well as the services and supports they need to live independently for as long as possible. These goals are essential to the quality of life we all seek, and achieving them should be the shared responsibility of all participants in the health system--individuals, providers, purchasers, insurers, and government.

“The National Priorities Partnership provides a structured and collaborative opportunity for a diverse group of organizations to reach consensus on mutually agreed upon priorities and goals. It is a promising initiative aimed at substantive healthcare change,” said John Rother, AARP’s Executive Vice President for Policy and Strategy. “It’s the right people at the right time coming together to fix the nation’s healthcare system.”
