The U.S. Chamber of Commerce advocates for business and free enterprise before Congress, the White House, regulatory agencies, the courts, and governments, providing businesses with a voice of experience and influence in Washington, D.C., and throughout the world. Members range from large Fortune 500 companies to home-based, one-person operations.
Years of health care spending increases have hit businesses hard, and millions of Americans still remain without health insurance. As a result, the Chamber champions health care policies that would expand access while reducing the cost burden on employers. These include improvements in quality, coverage, health information technology, health savings accounts, benefits, and transparency.
As part of the organization’s healthcare initiative, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce helped form the National Coalition on Benefits (NCB) in October 2007. NCB is a group of stakeholders dedicated to preserving the rights of employers to offer national health and welfare plans regardless of where employees live, work, or receive medical care.
